DeGrom makes successful return, Mets sweep Braves
While deGrom did not have his best stuff against the Braves, he held the powerless lineup in check and provided time for the bats to finally leave their mark.

Jacob deGrom made a successful return to the mound after tending to his ill infant son and an injury, pitching the New York Mets past the Atlanta Braves 3-2 Sunday for a three-game sweep.
DeGrom has said that the slight dip in velocity could be due to the fact that he pitched deep into October last season – which has resulted in him taking a bit longer to round in to form.
“I never thought I’d be walking in here, ” Chipper said, according to Kernan. “It’s looking pretty bad”.
Back in the rotation after healing from a sore right lat muscle and seeing his son recover from a health concern, deGrom (2-0) gave up one run and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander walked none and struck out three, throwing 59 of his 82 pitches for strikes. DeGrom (2-0) allowed eight hits in his first start since April 8, and Michael Conforto had two RBIs, including the go-ahead RBI double. “But there is no doubt about it”, Collins said.
Blair, who joined the Braves as part of the offseason trade that sent pitcher Shelby Miller to Arizona, said he ran out of gas in the sixth inning as the Mets scored twice for a 3-1 lead.
“I had to settle in real quick”, Blair said.
“I kind of lost my fastball command”, Blair said. Asdrubal Cabrera also singled and Conforto delivered a sacrifice fly.
Atlanta evened it in the fifth when Peterson led off with a single and scored on Nick Markakis’ two-out single, but Conforto was the man on the spot again in the sixth.
Mets closer Jeurys Familia gave up a ninth-inning run on a two-out RBI single by Jeff Francoeur, but stranded two runners on base to record his fifth save in as many opportunities.
Meanwhile, outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is not playing in Saturday night’s game against the Braves after aggravating his bruised right leg while sliding into second with a double in Friday night’s game. 3B David Wright was given the day off.
The Mets beat to Braves 3-2 to complete a sweep in Atlanta today.
To make room on the roster for Blair, the Braves optioned LHP Matt Marksberry to Triple-A Gwinnett one day after calling him up.
