Delaware GOP chairman expects support for Trump in July
In addition to counting votes, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are making appeals to Republican leaders.

Trump campaign chair Jeff DeWit angrily yelled that “Trump got cheated” after it became clear that delegates to Saturday’s state party convention had elected Cruz backers for virtually all the 28 at-large national delegates.
The state is now viewed as critical for Cruz to stop Trump from securing the nomination outright before the GOP convention this summer in Cleveland.
Pence, who faces his own re-election test this fall, also praised Trump, who had personally lobbied the governor to embrace his candidacy – or at least to make no endorsement ahead of Tuesday’s primary.
In a phone interview Thursday night, King said Cruz and Pence are “close to a match” philosophically.
This year’s presidential primaries have featured many firsts: an impossibly large Republican field, a GOP front-runner with no experience in government and a socialist winning big swaths of the Democratic vote.
So will Indiana. In a new online ad, a Cruz super-pac touts Indiana Governor Mike Pence’s vote of confidence, CBS2’s Brook Silva-Braga reported.
Wilson’s announcement Saturday at the Republican Party convention in Burlingame, California, is a key pickup for the Texas senator.
Congressional Republicans are beginning to accept, and even embrace, an outcome that was once unthinkable: Donald Trump as the GOP presidential nominee.
A few months back, some maintained that Ted Cruz was ineligible for the presidency because, in their view, he wasn’t a natural-born citizen of the United States. “And that means that, like Scott Walker in the Badger State, Indiana governor Mike Pence needs to step up”.
“I don’t think he’ll endorse anybody, actually – and he may endorse us”, Trump told CNN on Wednesday.
But in Indiana, he hasn’t had an influential supporter to campaign alongside him – a particularly glaring absence as Trump holds events alongside legendary former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight. Pence said that he was proud to support him.
But Cruz’s Arizona campaign organizer says simple math led to the at-large victory.
In a taste of what could be to come as the Trump campaign turns its attention to the Golden State, around 20 people were arrested outside the rally at the Orange County Fairgrounds, after which hundreds of young anti-Trump protesters spilled into the streets, vandalising police cruisers and tossing rocks at passing traffic. She highlighted the desperation felt by many in the Republican Party establishment hoping to find a way to halt the insurgent Trump’s rapid march toward the nomination.
Cruz and Kasich aim to halt his momentum just enough to force a battle for delegates on the convention floor.

Cruz has camped out in IN since before the Acela primary, and last week he stole news coverage away from Trump’s landslide by naming former rival Carly Fiorina, the retired tech executive, as his running mate.
