Dele Alli Receives Three-Match Ban for Punching Claudio Yacob

Tottenham Hotspur’s rising star Dele Alli has drawn a lot of criticism for his attempted punch on West Brom’s Claudio Yacob, but Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher believes this is a positive thing.

The incident went unpunished during the game, but Alli was charged the next day.

While the referees during the match missed this incident, that means nothing as Alli is still facing up to a three match ban, meaning his season could very well be over.

The midfielder has scored 10 goals and made nine more during an outstanding debut season in north London, propelling him into Roy Hodgson’s England squad ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

Television footage appeared to show the player swing a punch at West Brom’s Claudio Yacob.

The draw leaves Tottenham 7 points adrift of Leicester with just three games left to play meaning the Foxes can clinch the title with a win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The 20-year-old was voted PFA Young Player of the Year on Sunday following a strong breakout campaign in which he became an England global and a vital cog in Spurs’ midfield.

That way they can let him know when to “act nasty” without going overboard and when to stop with silly incidents like he has done throughout this season without getting caught until now. “Dele has a strong character and if you provoke or wind him up”. However, this will be a good learning curve for the young midfielder, as Spurs prepare themselves to challenge the hegemony of the so-called bigger clubs in the Premier League.

Speaking after the clash with Yacob, Pochettino said: ” I hear some comments but I have no time to see the action.

Now, without Alli against Chelsea again – the key youngster missed our first meeting of the year as well, a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane – their chances are even slimmer.

Of course we know that he’s only been a Tottenham player for a little over a season.
