After a sublime start to his career at White Hart Lane, the 20-year-old was given an improved deal eight months ago, but he has been rewarded further by chairman Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino, extending his stay at Tottenham by another year.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has said Spurs must play as they did against Sunderland consistently.

Alli has enjoyed a remarkable rise to prominence since making his Tottenham debut against Manchester United in August 2015.

In his first season in the Premier League, Alli scored 10 times in 33 appearances as he helped the club qualify for the Champions League with a third-place finish in the top flight.

He remained on-loan at Stadium:mk until the following summer, ending his League One season with 16 goals in 44 games for Karl Robinson’s side.

His form won him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and earned him an England call, scoring on his full worldwide debut in a 2-0 win over France last November before featuring in the disappointing Euro 2016 campaign.

Alli’s stunning goal against Crystal Palace in January, where he flicked the ball over his head and volleyed it in from 25 yards, was voted goal of the season by the club’s fans.
