Dele Alli: Tottenham Hotspur “not ruthless enough” to beat AS Monaco
Monaco would double their lead in the 31st minute, when Thomas Lemar blasted a left-footed shot into the roof of the Tottenham net following a scramble in front of the goalmouth.

While Spurs were playing their first match in the competition in five years, the team from the principality had not played in the tournament since the 2014-15 season when they reached the quarter-finals.
Eric Dier says Spurs can benefit from a bigger pitch when they play their Champions League games at Wembley this season.
‘We showed a lack of passion a little bit today because we can not conceded these goals. “Then we concede a goal you can not concede at this level for Tottenham”.
“When you concede like this it is very hard”.
And Alli agreed the performance was not one they had come to expect as a side and insisted they must learn to be more clinical in front of goal in the future.
“Wembley being filled with 80,000 or more Tottenham fans is going to be an awesome experience”.
“I was speaking with my players at half-time”.
“It is not new”.
Arsenal’s move to Wembley for two Champions League campaigns in 1998 and 1999 delivered just two wins from six games.
Pochettino sent on Mousa Dembele in the second half and the midfielder’s presence seemed to lift Spurs, allowing Dele Alli to play further forward and probe for an equaliser.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to show how big is our club”, Pochettino said before kick-off.
“We need to work more on being aggressive, to show we are hungry on the pitch”.
“I think Radamel had a great game”.
Tottenham’s Champions League relocation to Wembley Stadium got off to a bad start with a 2-1 loss to in-form Monaco on Wednesday.
He concluded: “Tactically the fact we were playing on a very big pitch posed Tottenham problems because they like to apply pressure and that is much harder on a big pitch”.
“I think that Spurs now, along with changing their mind-set to have more of a winning mentality, they’ve got that depth they needed all over the park”.
Jardim added: “We will have a look at Dirar (to assess the level of injury)”.

“It did upset us tactically, we didn’t want to make such an early substitution”.
