Delegate: Trump aide said ‘We’re moving forward’
The Maine GOP tried to eliminate controversy at the convention by making the results of last month’s presidential caucuses binding with 12 delegates for Cruz, nine for NY businessman Donald Trump and two for Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Paul LePage accused the Ted Cruz campaign Friday of going back on a promise to back a “unity slate” of the state’s delegates, a move that the Donald Trump supporter saw as “stabbing us in the back”.
According to the Associated Press, “Donald Trump’s chief lieutenants told skeptical Republican leaders Thursday the GOP front-runner has been “projecting an image” so far in the 2016 primary season and “the part that he’s been playing is now evolving” in a way that will improve his standing among general election voters”.
All 14 at-large delegates elected at the state party convention support the senator from Texas.
That is a record for early voting ahead of a primary. The veteran political operative, who previously worked for the RNC, is tasked with helping Trump play catch-up in the complicated state-by-state nomination process. Dick Durbin of IL, the No. 2 Democratic leader, said he’s counting on Sanders to help bring party members together at the Philadelphia convention in July.
Clinton, now 81 percent of the way toward clinching the Democratic nomination that eluded her eight years ago, can lose every remaining contest and still prevail. Trump has railed against states like Colorado and Wyoming that have chosen their delegates through state conventions instead of holding a primary or caucus, arguing that people were denied the right to vote. Cruz supports these discriminatory laws, spreading the myth that trans-inclusive restrooms will increase sexual assaults of women and girls in the bathroom. At a Thursday rally in Frederick, Maryland, he accused Trump of bending to political correctness, and hats that say “Make PC Great Again”, mocking Trump’s campaign slogan. Trump replied saying: “That is correct”.
“Trump has really tapped into voters who are dissatisfied with the status quo and are really concerned about the country, and they are like, you know what, we need somebody that’s bold who’s gonna be strong”, Barbour added.
One question asked Trump what he thought of North Carolina’s anti-transgender bathroom law, which bars the government from establishing bathroom accommodation for trasn people.
“There have been very few complaints the way it is”. “People would think their vote doesn’t count and that the party doesn’t care about them”. There has been so little trouble. CLINTON BEATS SANDERS The win by Clinton, 68, makes it nearly impossible for Sanders, 74, to overtake her commanding lead in delegates needed to secure the nomination. A Trump campaign spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday. But party officials, including RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, have defended the process as long-established, transparent, and incumbent upon all candidates to learn it.

Anyone who is a registered Republican in our state can apply to become a delegate at the national GOP convention. The party is operating under the rules that nominated Mitt Romney in 2012.
