According to a police officer, three-and-a-half-year-old Aviral, who lived in a Railway colony on Sri Ram Road, was studying in John Wesley playschool, that is barely 2 km from his house.

Aviral was taken to the nearest hospital, but he succumbed to his injury.

The police has arrested the driver, identified as Rahul, 28, and also seized his vehicle.

However, this is not the first instance of negligence by school transport. There have been several other instances in the last six months, where a child has been hit by a school van or a bus. They pulled the driver out of the van and thrashed him. “The driver is responsible for the accident”, victim’s father told reporters.
