Former DCW chief Barkha Shukla Singh, who was heading the panel till a year ago, had filed a complaint with the ACB alleging “nepotism and favouritism” by its current chairperson Swati Maliwal in appointing employees to the DCW.

All the names have been obtained through an RTI inquiry, Singh has claimed. “During this period, the commission made no recommendation to the government and conducted only six visits despite having a staff of about 50 officers”, she added.

Ms Maliwal, 31, who was handpicked by Mr Kejriwal to head the commission previous year, has denied the allegations.

“Two girls belong to the Nari Niketan and were appointed in DCW following all the rules and regulations which were there since the time Shukla was here”, she said.

“DCW will continue working for women”. We needed people to handle more cases.

The Delhi BJP has demanded Ms Maliwal’s resignation. “Happy Rakshabandhan to all”, she said.

The ACB team reached the commission’s office at 10.30 on Thursday morning and questioned senior staff members. She said, “If ACB and bosses feel that I will be scared and silenced through this, they are wrong”.
