Delhi Cabinet ‘missing’ in midst of health scare
“We have sought a detailed report from the Delhi government (regarding chikungunya deaths)… as to what has been the co-morbidity in these death cases and its details… I appeal to workers of all the parties, be it BJP, Congress or AAP to forget politics (at least for some days) and fight against these diseases”, Mishra appealed. Yesterday Arvind Kejriwal was questioned on the state of shambles that governance in Delhi is now in and the absence of the Health Minister while the city is dealing with such deadly diseases.

Delhi’s Water Minister Kapil Mishra also appealed to all legislators and councillors to keep aside political differences and fight the vector-borne menace together.
“People of Delhi have no need to panic”. According to reports, the “chikungunya death” at the AIIMS took place sometime in September.
Delhi has been reeling under chikungunya, with death toll reaching six from complications arising from the vector-borne disease.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday said that one can not die from chikungunya, and added that this information is available on Google and is not his personal opinion.
Nadda while addressing a press conference informed that no complaints of shortage of medicine or doctors and testing facilities have been reported.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said in a tweet that officials of the Delhi government were busy following the “LG’s instructions” of going through the files of the past 18 months and sending these to him.
“We have directed all the hospitals to keep ORS solution and do not let any patients face de-hydration”, he added.
It said that a dengue Task Force has been constituted with experts of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), MCD and Delhi Government to assess the dengue situation. “No one should panic, may it be chikungunya or dengue”.
One suspected chikungunya death at AIIMS was today also confirmed. He urged people to rely on the symptomatic treatment for chikungunya and consume lots of liquids as the disease is generally non-fatal.
“The patient had multi-organ failure triggered by chikungunya and died on September 13 evening”, a senior official of the hospital said. “80-year-old Mahendra Singh from Ghaziabad died of chikungunya complications yesterday afternoon”, hospital authorities said.
Municipal Corporation data said the number of dengue, chikungunya and malaria infections stands at 1,158, 1,057 and 21 respectively.
Ganga Ram Hospital has reported four deaths in last 24 hours due to various complications triggered due to Chikungunya.

The Health Minister added there was “no dearth of beds in government hospitals” with as many as 40,000 beds in the city and central government-run hospitals.
