Delhi Government Announces Cash Rewards For PV Sindhu And Sakshi Malik

Shuttler P.V. Sindhu made a historic entry into the final of women’s singles in Olympic Games badminton, and won a Silver, a day after grappler Sakshi Malik had nailed the country’s first medal, a bronze, after 11 blank days in Rio de Janeiro, writes Tapan Mohanta.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday heaped praise on Indian athletes P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik for their achievements at the Rio Games.

We wish Sakshi continues to make her wishes come true and make all her dreams a reality in here future endeavours. “I am so proud of them and wanted to honor them with a cash award”, Sebastian said.

RIo Olympics 2016 silver medallist PV Sindhu not only plays with rivals, but also with children on unlikeliest of places. “These young ladies have been an inspiration for all women in India and I am sure many more will follow them”, Gupta said.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited the parents of Ms Sakshi in Haryana’s Rohtak in the morning and announced the award for both Olympians.

The Games will close a circle with Olympic flame being extinguished and apart from the melancholy the organisers have promised to show the best of Brazil.

However, it was still unclear whether Brazilian legend Pele who had pulled out of the Opening Ceremony would attend the function.
