Amid a fresh row over the absence of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia from the city as cases of vector-borne diseases flood Delhi hospitals, AAP Health Minister Satyendra Jain has a word of advice for the residents.
“Surveillance for dengue and chikungunya in India presently captures only those patients that are laboratory confirmed at government identified sentinel hospitals, most of these are in the public sector”.
As per the data of Municipal Corporation said that the number of dengue, chikungunya and malaria infections stands at 1,158, 1,057 and 21 respectively.
Chikungunya and dengue have wreaked havoc in Delhi with the death toll from the two vector-borne diseases climbing to 30 even as the number of affected people has crossed 2,800.
“It will be analysed and the report for the same will be sent to us so that we can analyse as to why all this happened”, he added.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda held a high-level meeting with officials concerned to review the situation in the country, especially Delhi. “Of the total, 65 have been admitted for chikungunya, 62 have been discharged, while one has died”, the report said.
September 17: The Congress Party on Saturday accused the Centre and the Delhi government of indulging in a blame game over who was shirking responsibility for dealing with the Chikungunya and Dengue crisis, and causing enormous distress to the citizens of the national capital.
Chikungunya and dengue has claimed at least 33 lives and affected almost 3,000 people in the national capital.
“Have just received e-mail from Govt of India that death reported in Ganga Ram hospital of chikungunya positive patients should be probed a little more and information should be given to them”, said Sir Ganga Ram hospital chairman Dr D.S. Rana. “There is a need to take symptomatic treatment and increase liquid intake”.
He said, there are adequate beds in Delhi hospitals and over 400 fever clinics to cater to patients.
Delhi ruled MCDs have proved once again that the BJP does not care about people and their problems.
However, he said, that there were a large number of patients coming to these hospitals from the NCR apparently due to lack of proper healthcare facilities in these states – namely Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Five deaths from chikungunya were reported till Tuesday in the city that is battling a viral onslaught of this disease after almost 10 years.
Saying that even the reported 10 deaths should not cause panic, he said: “Some 200 people die in Delhi hospitals daily”.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday made a fervent appeal to all to shun politics and jointly tackle the menace of vector-borne diseases on a war-footing.

He also stated that no patient is being turned away without treatment in these hospitals.
