The attackers belonged to the right-wing group Hindu Mahasabha.
A PIA statement said the flight operations would not be suspended nor will the staff be called back.
The PIA spokesman said staff of the national airline remained unhurt in the attack.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of New Delhi Police assured that appropriate action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has contacted the Indian government and has asked for a probe on the incident.
The development comes in the wake of the terror attack on Pathankot airbase believed to be carried out by Pakistani terrorists.

Indian authorities have claimed that Azhar had masterminded the Pathankot attack. The activists were reportedly protesting against the January 2 attack on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot. “We will extend it our full cooperation”, Swarup told a press conference in New Delhi.
