Delhi Wakes Up To Chilly Morning, Fog Disrupts 45 Trains

The meteorological department has said the day is likely to be partly cloudy through out the day while fog is likely to return in the evening.

Flight operations though were normal, an Indira Gandhi International Airport spokesperson said.

“There was dense fog in the morning”.

Meanwhile, the past few days saw maximum temperature to be 19 degree celsius, a notch below the season’s average, and the minimum temperate recorded as 13.6 degree celsius, six notches above the season’s average.

There was a slight drop in mercury in Kupwara town of north Kashmir as it registered a low of minus 2.6 degrees Celsius, the official said. Severe cold conditions prevailed in parts of Rajasthan making Churu the coldest place at 3.9 degrees Celsius.

Owing to the dry weather, the minimum temperature in the Valley has mostly hovered below the freezing point and resulted in increase in common ailments. Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded its minimum at 9.8 degrees, four notches above normal even as Amritsar in Punjab recorded a low of 8.6 degrees. R K Jenamani, director in-charge of IGI Met said: “A fresh spell of fog started over the city on Wednesday but it could not become very dense due to the high minimum temperatures”.
