Dell’s all-new product, the XPS 12, attempts to make a product like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 even better. Weight of the bare tablet is 1.75 pounds, 2.8 pounds with the keyboard attached. It has a 4K Ultra HD display and a 100-percent minimum Adobe RGB display.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. The tablet also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, and support for Dell Pen Active although the device itself doesn’t come with a stylus.

That’s not to dismiss what Dell has done with the XPS 12. No pricing information has yet been released. That’ll snag you most of the features mentioned aside from the 4K display, so it’s a solid deal.

The demo unit I tested was running with aCore m5-6Y54 processor and 8GB Dual Channel LPDDR3 DRAM and Intel HD Graphics. Depending on the chosen configuration, this can vary from Core i3 all the way up to Core i7. The FHD screen did impress throughout my hands on, displaying great contrast and colour balance, and excellent sharpness too. There will be up to 1TB of storage, which can be a mix of HDD and SSD if preferred.

NEW YORK-Dell today announced its new portfolio of award-winning XPS devices, featuring the innovative XPS 12 2-in-1, ultra-mobile XPS 13 notebook and stunning XPS 15 powerhouse laptop. Buyers can opt for an UltraSharp 4K display, up to an i7 quad core processor, and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 graphics.

XPS 13: Up to 1TB PCIe SSDs and 16GB RAM, and Thunderbolt 3. The basic XPS 13 will cost £849, while the larger XPS 15 will retail for £1,099. The laptop can also be used as a tablet when separated from the bundled hinge-less magnetic keyboard.

When Dell’s XPS 13 launched earlier this year, it turned heads. There’s also the Dell Power Companion Accessory, an 18,000 mAh external battery that will definitely see you through the entire work day.

Dell Thunderbolt Dock to connect up to three screens and five peripherals.

XPS 15 – The XPS line offers powerhouse performance in aggressive form factors, and the new XPS 15 is the pinnacle of that design philosophy. To simplify things, the company will offer different dock options. Another cutting edge inclusion: a USB 3.1 Type-C port (also compatible with Thunderbolt 3). It will ship as standard with the XPS 12 so there is no obvious need to buy one. It has very few flaws to speak of, with a stylish design, comfy keyboard, vibrant screen and fast performance.

Dell and Microsoft have enjoyed a relationship spanning more than two decades.

Perhaps the biggest miss with the new XPS models is that the names remain exactly the same as previous versions.

The XPS 15 will be available beginning October 8 on Dell.com in the United States starting at $999.
