It seems that Dell is working on a new version of its XPS 12, a 2-in-1 device that now sports a swiveling display and a unique flip-hinge design that allows it to function as an Ultrabook or a tablet.

For now, the reportedly leaked documents point to the Dell XPS 12 being released in October, which is the month when the Surface Pro 4 is supposed to be unveiled.

In addition to the impressive display, the device will also sport an 8-megapixel back-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing webcam which should be sufficient enough for most uses. Other listed features of the upcoming Dell XPS include Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C ports to enable extremely fast data transfer.

In the first game of the 2015 season between the Patriots and the Steelers, NBC commentator Al Michaels referred to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 as an iPad.

The new Dell Venue 10 Pro will support up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, 802.11ac WiFi, and optional 4G LTE and HSPA+ connectivity.

There are no details available of the pricing of the Dell XPS 12 though Dell is likely to offer its new tablet at a significantly lower price than Microsoft’s Surface Pro range of tablets.

Other, more official revelations also show that Lenovo is getting into the high-powered tablet/notebook market with its own MIX 700 device, which will have the same essential design as the rumored Dell XPS 12 2-in-1 machine. This will allow them to make a dent in sales of Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablets, which are well known for their powerful performance as well as high prices.
