Delta Cancels 530 More Flights Tuesday Morning To ‘Reset’ Airline

Delta Air Lines announced it was grounding almost 300 flights Tuesday, a day after a computer outage hobbled the carrier’s communication and booking systems and forced it to cancel about 1,000 flights worldwide. “In addition, delayed and canceled flights cause costly downstream operational disruptions – additional delays or cancellations because a planned aircraft or crew is not in place or because pilots have ‘timed out'”.

The company extended a travel waiver to customers traveling Tuesday. “The company could have done a better job of explaining … what was happening”.

Delta is investigating why some critical systems and network equipment didn’t switch over to its backup systems following the power loss, the carrier said in a statement.

But unaccompanied minors that have not yet begun travel will not be accepted until Wednesday.

As Delta enters the second day of widespread flight cancellations and delays globally, the company is taking measures to make things right with consumers by offering some compensation for thousands of flight delays and cancellations.

If your flight was canceled by Delta or delayed more than three hours, and you decide not to reschedule, you can ask the airline for your money back.

Many Delta passengers are still stranded after large-scale flight cancellations.

DALLAS (AP) – Delta Air Lines said Tuesday that some computer systems are still working slowly more than a day after an outage crippled the airline and led to more than 1,500 canceled flights. The investigation continues, but he added that there was no evidence the problem was caused by hackers or an intentional breach.

The outage happened at its headquarters in Atlanta. “Other Georgia Power customers were not affected by the issue with Delta’s equipment”. Some passengers said they were shocked that computer glitches could cause such turmoil. Others took it in stride.

According to flight schedule posted on the Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s website, the airline canceled a 7:45 a.m. departure for Atlanta and delayed a handful of other flights. It will take take days for everyone to get back on track.

“There is always a delay, or weather, or something”, he said.
