Delta outage continues to ground flights at Orlando International

Delta officials said about 300 flights nationwide were canceled Tuesday morning as the company worked to fix the problem.
Tuesday’s disruptions followed about 1,000 cancelations and 2,800 delayed flights on Monday after a power outage at Delta’s Atlanta headquarters tripped a meltdown of its booking, communications and other systems.
More than 1000 people spent the night at Narita airport outside Tokyo because of the shutdown and, while flights were resuming on Tuesday, Delta spokeswoman Hiroko Okada said more delays are expected.
Holtz apologized to those customers who had experienced delays over the past 24 hours and said the company was “doing everything we can to return our operation to normal reliability”, but admitted Delta was expecting more delays and cancellations.

Customers scheduled to travel this week should check the status of their flight on Delta’s website or via the Fly Delta App.
On Monday, Orlando International had 12 cancellations and 22 delays, airport leaders said.
Delta says that you are entitled to a refund or a one-time change to your ticket without a fee if your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed.
Delta Air Lines is on damage control duty after a power outage early yesterday crippled its computer systems and stranded thousands of frustrated customers in airports across the globe.
Cancellations that were the result of a computer outage lingered into Tuesday.
The problem started with a 2:30 a.m. power outage that wreaked havoc on computer systems at Delta’s Atlanta hub.
Delta’s troubles prompted a hashtag – #DeltaMeltdown2016 – where people shared their woes or poked fun at the airline.
On Monday evening, Delta’s chief executive Ed Bastian, issued a video apology to passengers.
“Our crews responded to the site this morning and we continue to work with the team at Delta”, the statement said.
Delta’s travel waiver has been extended to customers traveling on Tuesday.
In its update late Monday afternoon, Delta said that after the power outage “some critical systems and network equipment didn’t switch over to Delta’s backup systems”, adding that “investigation into the causes is ongoing”.

According to flight schedule posted on the Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s website, the airline canceled a 7:45 a.m. departure for Atlanta and delayed a handful of other flights.
