The gymnast, who won four gold medals and one bronze medal during this year’s games, was named flag bearer for Sunday night’s show, becoming the first USA gymnast to have the honor. Despite being stars themselves, Biles and her teammates weren’t totally immune to the celebrity of athletes like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt.

The ceremony was the culmination of a whirlwind two weeks for the gymnast.

The parade of athletes was dubbed “Simone Selfie Central” by NBC’s Mary Carillo, who described a “conga line of people” asking for a #simoneselfie.

An ebullient President Obama took to Twitter to congratulate Team USA as the 2016 Rio Olympics came to a close on Sunday night.

After winning five medals at the Rio Olympics, gymnast Simone Biles of U.S. became an overnight star not just in her home country but across the globe. Looking at Biles during the closing ceremonies, it was no wonder that everyone seemed to want a selfie with the gymnast’s famous “Biles Smile”.

“Athletes from various countries kept stopping Biles during the ceremony to take the ideal selfie with her”. Rumor has it that there was a bit of a delay to the start of the opening ceremony.

“Athletes from various countries kept stopping Biles during the ceremony to take the ideal selfie with her”, the magazine reported.

“I’m afraid the flag is going to be too heavy for me”, the gymnast said. “Because Michael Phelps is so much taller and he seemed to carry it so easily and I’m very short so I’m a little anxious about that part but I think they’ll guide me through it”, she told reporters before the closing ceremonies started.
