Demand striker claims summer Manchester United transfer was ‘never’ a
Charlie Austin has revealed he turned down a move to the Premier League this summer – even though he knew it could cost him a spot at Euro 2016.

In the meantime however, Ramsey is pleased to have kept hold of the striker and wants Austin to continue gaining attention form rival clubs.
QPR were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, which unsurprisingly saw their best players with links elsewhere to try and balance the books.
Nevertheless, Austin has now made it clear that he never came close to a transfer to Old Trafford.
United manager Louis van Gaal ended up blowing an initial £36million on untested teenage Monaco talent Anthony Martial, and fans will be scratching their heads seeing as he could have landed a proven goalscorer in the top division for less than half of that.
Charlie Austin could yet leave QPR, with Newcastle and Crystal Palace keen on the striker.
And Austin said that stance never crossed his mind after the way he left Swindon in 2011.
“I turned down a move which wasn’t right for me and my family”, he added.

There was constant speculation surrounding Austin and where his future would lie all summer. “If selling Charlie at that time is the right thing for QPR, then I’m sure the owners will make that decision at the time”. As well as evidently not trying to force through any exit, he has also continued to play a crucial role for QPR with four goals in five games as Chris Ramsey’s side have started life back in the second tier in impressive fashion. “I told him until he is in match condition, he won’t be considered”.
