DeMarcus Cousins is Sorry for Cussing Out George Karl

The unpleasantness has continued through Sacramento’s 1-7 start, with players-not just Cousins-questioning Karl’s coaching strategies. Karl reportedly is in danger of losing his job, but the belief is Cousins could be on his way out of town, too.

Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson both shot 5-15 from the floor and tied for the team lead with 16 points. But in reality, he has symbolized everything that’s wrong with the team, and for that, he needs to be dumped.

Karl walked away from the confrontation, and a regretful Cousins said Wednesday, via ESPN: “I let my frustrations get the best of me in the locker room after the San Antonio loss – that is my bad”. In addition, Kings vice president of basketball operations/general manager Vlade Divac and assistant general manager Mike Bratz asked players whether Karl should be fired or not? The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. Cousins was bothered by the comments, and Karl later apologized.

Cousins scored a game-high 33 points Wednesday to help the Kings beat Detroit. An older coach, especially one with such a resume, possibly doesn’t have much to give to a young core.

And to the Kings front office, Cousins’ tirade a couple nights earlier was frustration firing off in every direction and not specifically directed at Karl, thus the absence of discipline.

Karl will need that energy as he tries to lead the Kings from their 1-7 start to the season. Although the team has tried to play from the perimeter and with a faster pace, there’s no one whose offense teams have to fear without Cousins on the floor.

What can’t be denied in all of this mess is that DeMarcus Cousins is an out-of-this-world center and could really go for a new change of scenery, because it is clear that he might never get to actually experience a winning season in Sacramento. For the two teams playing tonight, the first few games of the season could not have gone any differently. The matchup against the Pistons was their first against an Eastern Conference opponent. Becuase how many of us could go on a public, profanity yelled rant at our bosses and not get any punishment for it?

Or, the team could continue their spiral that’s lasted nearly 10 years and continue to be an embarrassment. The choice will ultimately be up to them.
