DeMarcus Cousins won’t stay with Sacramento Kings
Even though the trade rumors have, for the moment, disappeared and that the prevailing thought is the Sacramento Kings have no intention to move DeMarcus Cousins, there’s no question that everyone will be watching this Cousins-Kings situation closely. During Cousins’ six seasons in the league, Sacramento has never qualified for the playoffs, nor won more than 33 games in a single year. Cousins is easily the Kings’ best player and has two year remaining on his deal with Sacramento.

Cousins has had many much-publicized run-ins with head coaches (the Kings have had six of them since 2012), and he’s been labeled nationally as a player who’s hard to deal with.
If the rumors hold any truth, then the Kings should be looking to move Cousins. “The good news for them is his value will always be high”.
There are high chances that Sacramento Kings will put Boogie on the trade block, especially that both parties know that Cousins will not be staying with Kings eventually. There isn’t a point of no return in which you’re not getting high value for him. This gives them over a season to go out and find the best trade scenario for Cousins.
Superstars LeBron James and Russell Westbrook might not crack the market anytime soon, but the league is not short of rising talent for teams to place their best bets on. “Maybe [Cousins] doesn’t go for the biggest money in free agency but you’d love to have that card to play”.
As successful as Cousins has been from a statistics standpoint, the same thing can not be said about the Kings.
In the grand scheme of things, Cousins leaving in 2018 is just a rumor. The Sacramento Kings have gone a dismal 164-312 since drafting the former Wildcat in 2010. He’s proven by playing at Kentucky that he can do that, and now playing on the Olympic team. There are rumors that Cleveland Cavaliers is trading Love to Boston Celtics. The Kings do have some talent, but they are not the Cavaliers or Warriors.

Perhaps one of the strongest pitches for a Cousins trade came from the Chicago Bulls, who are reportedly willing to exchange Bulls scoring leader Jimmy Butler, Doug McDermott and Robin Lopez for Boogie and Rudy Gay. He is a scoring machine (fourth in the National Basketball Association in scoring in 2015-16) and he also happens to play center, a position that doesn’t consist of too many lethal scoring bigs.
