Demaryius Thomas signs five-year, $70 million contract

“We think he’s coming right into his prime”, general manager John Elway said of the 27-year-old Thomas. Per Schefter, Thomas will net a hefty $70 million over five years, and the only difference between his contracts and Bryant’s contract is the fact that he’ll make slightly less guaranteed money (.5 million vs. $45 million).

If nothing else, the Broncos’ most recent offer acknowledges that Thomas is a special player and affirms that they would like to have him for years to come.

This standoff means that Thomas’ only options would be to sign the one-year franchise tender worth $12.8 million to play for the Broncos or not play at all and sit out the entire season without pay.

Will Demaryius Thomas receive a long-term contract from Denver this offseason?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Broncos are now 12/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 5/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship.

“Last year was a disappointment to myself”, Latimer said, via Carmeron Wolfe of the Denver Post.

The Denver Broncos and the team’s top wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas are still negotiating a probable long-term contract extension before the Wednesday deadline. The Broncos offense is heading in a more run friendly direction under new head coach Gary Kubiak that will have some impact on Thomas’ numbers moving forward. I dont worry about no other player.”.

With Thomas signed, the Broncos can designate their franchise tag on linebacker Von Miller, who is set to become a free agent after this season. Contrary to reports, Thomas is not seeking Calvin Johnson money. “You can still get better each and every day, so that’s my goal”. “We wanted to get a deal done – they knew that”.

“To me, it’s going to be totally different for Demaryius. I apologize (hash)cowboynation but I will not be there if no deal”, wrote Bryant, who skipped offseason workouts and has said he would consider missing games. Since the start of the 2011 season, Thomas, 27, is second in the National Football League with 28 100-yard receiving games in the regular season and postseason combined, including 10 100-yard games last season, seven of those in consecutive weeks.

They’re both digging in and refusing to back down. The NFL’s highest-paid receiver is Johnson – Thomas is good, but he ain’t no Megatron. Many believe the 39-year-old quarterback will retire after this season, so investing top dollar into a receiver may not be the best utilization of Denver’s cap space.
