Manchester City could only muster a draw in the end against Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday.

BRENDAN Rodgers heaped praise on his Celtic warriors as they earned themselves a precious 3-3 draw with Manchester City at Celtic Park. But this game could be good for Guardiola.

“People will always say, ‘Well why did you go to City then?’ but at that time it was a great opportunity and when you want to become the best you can be you want to be playing in and around the best”.

Into the second half and Celtic again provided a shock to the watching punters both inside Celtic Park and beyond, when Dembele once again got on the scoresheet. We sat off Barcelona and admired them more than anything, letting them play and show what good players can do to you if you sit off them.

Moussa Dembele, who enhanced his growing reputation with two of Celtic’s goals, said: “If we keep producing games like that, we can get something out of this Champions League”.

Celtic, who are now four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a game in hand, will next play Dundee on Saturday. It was the Bhoys’ first appearance in the competition in its new guise and they duly marked it with this performance.

What are your thoughts? “He is already one of the world’s top young players but (can be) one of the world’s leading players”, Rodgers, who managed Sterling for three seasons at Liverpool, told British media. In Europe you can not concede because they are machines.

Now reunited with Rodgers in Scotland, he told the Telegraph: “You have hard times as a footballer, and that’s what happened to me at City”.

Celtic will be looking to put a horrendous start to the Champions League behind them when they host Manchester City.

For their part, Celtic are coming off a 6-1 win against Kilmarnock at the weekend and their record at home this season shows eight wins from eight games with 32 goals scored.

It’s okay, it’s one point, we didn’t lose.

“I have watched them in the last four or five seasons and they have had an outstanding group of players, winning leagues and cups”.

Although Guardiola’s men came back to find an equaliser on three occasions in the game, the draw against the Scottish opponents serves as a reminder that even the best of the teams can find it tough on the road in Europe.
