While in rehab, Lovato admitted she was “a nightmare”.
In a CBS Sunday Morning interview, Lovato divulges that she has become part owner of CAST Centers, a mental health and wellness treatment center in Los Angeles.
Lovato’s interview is set to air on September 11 on CBS at 9 am.
“It sounds ridiculous, but I kind of made a pact with God”, Lovato says of her commitment to help others going through the same battles she has.
This past March marked four years of sobriety for Lovato.
To say Lovato has come a long way since undergoing treatment at Cast would be an understatement. She has several gold-record albums and platinum singles; her most recent album, “Confident”, went gold in July, selling a half-million units, and the title single hit platinum in January, with a million units sold. Indeed, CAST’s Bayer admits to Smith that when he first met the former Disney star-turned-household name, she was “very closed off”. “[She] didn’t care about anything”, Bayer said.
Lovato says that she was far from a model patient.
She’s also now on a national tour with Nick Jonas. “And this will be on a Sunday morning, so I’m not going to say it!” “And this will be on a Sunday morning, so I’m not going to say it!”
But Demi eventually responded to the facility and has learned how to function without “some sort of drug or with alcohol” and things are better than ever for her now.
