Democracy is future of our nation: PM

In his statement on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that he had full faith in democracy and “Insha Allah, democracy is our future”.

Pakistan came into being through a democratic process, Radio Pakistan quoted Sharif as saying while voting in civic elections in Lahore.

“Pakistan was also created through democratic process participation in democratic process by the people of Pakistan shows their resolve in constitution and rule of law”.

He said there is no other road to progress and development but adherence to democratic values.

During a meeting with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on the status of the CPEC projects, Prime Minister Sharif said that the concerned officers and officials who fail to complete related projects timely will not be part of the team.

Sajida Mir, a Member of the Punjab Assembly belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), staged a protest outside the polling station, chanting slogans against the prime minister. The venue was echoing with slogans of “Go Nawaz Go”, as voters joined the angry PPP lawmaker.

But there was huge crowd of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz supporters were present outside the polling station, where Nawaz Sharif cast his vote.

The prime minister came out from the polling station smiling and waving to his supporters, and left the area without talking to media.

According to details, on arrival of premier there weere very tight security measurement and he cast his vote in Madrassatul Banaat polling station in UC 70, Lahore.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto cast first vote of his life, in the Local Bodies elections, being held in eight districts of Sindh and 12 districts of Punjab.
