Democratic candidates prepare for first debate
The debate will air on CNN at 8:30 p.m. ET. As a self-described democratic socialist, he’s been advocating for middle- and lower-income Americans for years in the legislative arena.

Hillary Clinton will have to answer for the original sin of politics: flip-flopping. She went on to defend the evolution of her position.
While Clinton still elicits more unfavorable than favorable reactions among United States adults (49 percent to 47 percent), she is far more popular than Sanders among Democrats, who view her favorably by 79 to 19 percent, compared to Sanders’ 47-24 percent split, a Washington Post-ABC News poll out today shows. These moves, however, also help Clinton make the case that she’s not a “stay the course” candidate.
Yet Clinton’s greatest challenge is probably not on any specific issue.
This campaign was expected to be a cakewalk for the former first lady, but it hasn’t turned out that way.
The Democrats have allowed the radical left to take over their party, and that is evident by the fact that they were absolutely obliterated in the last midterm election, the shocking reality that infanticide isn’t enough to make them even reconsider federal funding to Planned Parenthood, and the total lack of effort to even talk about the massive financial crisis our country is facing.
There are still big differences between Clinton and Sanders, and they’ll come into focus during the candidate forum. Another Democratic presidential candidate, Lincoln Chafee, also voted against the legislation when he was a Rhode Island senator.
Of those five candidates, it can be argued that not a single one of them is fit to be president.
“Some people say Donald Trump is entertaining”, Clinton said. Clinton’s 12% lead over the Vermont senator, however, is less than half of her lead as recently as August.
Gathered below are 10 reasons Sanders has gained supporters at the expense of his rivals. He’s also giving Clinton a run for her money in early states like Iowa and New Hampshire. “We are working on getting people where they are”, said Renteria, mentioning the upcoming event in San Antonio, Texas. No word on where a podium for Joe Biden will be placed should he decide to participate. In recent days, Sanders has been repeatedly pointing to the October 2002 vote as evidence that he was right and Clinton wrong on the most important foreign policy call so far this century.
Clinton is leaving no stone unturned as she approaches her first Democratic debate in seven years-particularly when it comes to calling out The Donald. Clinton’s poll numbers and approval ratings have dipped as a result.
Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) ahead of the first Democratic presidential debate.
“Hillary Clinton is an excellent debater”, said Pfeiffer. Biden’s tendency to take any criticism of Obama personally, combined with his penchant for hyperbole, guarantee that he will overreact to any anti-Obama jabs with cries of “malarkey!” A few see a chance for Mr O’Malley to do the same.
Once seen as a fresh and accomplished new Democratic voice, the former Maryland governor – partly due to his failure to command much media coverage – is badly in need of a fresh boost of energy. His son, Jimmy Webb, served in Iraq.
That doesn’t mean O’Malley should come in being a bomb-thrower, which could backfire on stage. Sanders is 74, and was born months before America entered World War II.
Despite the Biden speculation, the Democratic primary has lacked the drama of the Republican contest and the unexpected rise of Trump. The age gap could give O’Malley an edge.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has struggled to catch fire, but has also proven to be the most dogged Clinton attacker of the bunch – another element Clinton will have to manage.
