Democratic National Committee Chair to Resign

The Democratic National Committee barely has more cash than it does IOUs, and it is being outraised month after month by its Republican counterpart. “It’s shameful that the Clinton campaign – and, it should be said, the Obama White House – served as longtime loyal enablers for such a flagrant abuser of democratic principles”. These correspondences showed a preference for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the party’s primary debates.

At least as of now, Wasserman Schultz still plans to handle the gavel at the Democratic national convention, despite her resignation under fire in the DNC’s new email scandal.

On Sunday, Clinton said in a statement that she was appointing Wasserman Schultz as “honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program”.

REMINDER: This a is a Florida delegation breakfast. The protester shouted “DNC leaks” soon after Clinton thanked Wasserman Schultz for her leadership at the DNC.

“We know that the voices in this room that are standing up and being disruptive – we know that that’s not the Florida we know”, she told the crowd.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, took the opportunity to praise Wasserman Schultz’s GOP counterpart, Reince Priebus, and undermine Clinton.

The leaked emails included one where Wasserman Schultz referred to a top Sanders campaign aide as a “damn liar” and another where a party official suggested the Vermont senator’s religious beliefs should be questioned.

Watch the above clip of the Wasserman Schultz comments from MSNBC. “They laughed at us. like we were nothing”, Carter said, calling the emails “the last straw” for a lot of Sanders supporters. “The party leadership must also always remain impartial in the presidential nominating process, something which did not occur in the 2016 race”. She took numerous swipes at Republican Donald Trump, all without mentioning his name. Another seems to depict an attorney advising the committee on how to defend Clinton against an accusation by the Sanders campaign of not living up to a joint fundraising agreement.

It’s not known who hacked into the DNC’s email system or who leaked almost 20,000 emails, but fingers are pointing at Russians.

It wasn’t immediately clear how WikiLeaks received copies of the internal Democratic emails. Party officials learned in late April that their systems had been attacked after they discovered malicious software on their computers. “We are the state that will deliver the White House”.

Brazile, who was already the committee’s vice chair of voter registration and participation, was scheduled to address the convention Tuesday night.

Sanders was closing the night, speaking just after Massachusetts. Sen.

Shawnee Badger, 22, of Valencia, Calif., College of the Canyon student who raised money for the trip through a GoFundMe campaign, said boos and taunts will be on display at the Wells Fargo Center when the convention opens. “We won’t vote for Hillary!” “That doesn’t make us want to unify with them”, the 18-year-old said.

Party leaders tried to make Wasserman Schultz’s exit as graceful as possible.

Schultz agreed sunday to step down and let the mayor of Baltimore open the convention.

“You will never hear me say I only listen to myself on national security”, she said. She will formally accept the nomination on Thursday.

Former President Bill Clinton smiled and clapped from the audience.

Overcoming the lingering resentment among Sanders supporters may become the task of the week. What about the Democratic nominee who practically fell all over herself in embracing DWS yesterday? “I don’t think it’s coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here, and that’s disturbing”.
