Democratic National Convention Day 4: Who’s speaking, where to watch

By contrast, many prominent Republicans were absent from the party convention that nominated Mr Trump for the White House last week.

On Thursday evening, Hillary Rodham Clinton made history by stepping onto the stage at the Democratic National Convention to accept her nomination as the Democratic nominee for president.

From Vox: Biden’s speech was all about a positive, liberal spin on the American story. “Americans don’t say ‘I alone can fix it.’ We say, “We’ll fix it together”.

To “reject cynicism, reject fear, to summon what’s best in us”. “What we heard was a deeply pessimistic vision of a country where we turn against each other, and turn away from the rest of the world”.

President Barack Obama spoke in support of Clinton, saying, “There has never been a man or a woman-not me, not Bill, nobody-more qualified to serve as President of the United States of America”. What tone will Clinton take?

Becoming the first woman to win the nomination of a major political party, Clinton promised to be a president for “all Americans”, whether they voted for her or not.

After those conversations, Hillary Clinton went right to work. “We will rise to the challenge, just as we always have”, Clinton added.

Clinton also recognized that the US faces national security threats, but the crux of her speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday looked forward. There would be a few other firsts in the family that night as well: Bill Clinton would be the first man married to a US president.

He told Fox News Channel in an interview that “I guess I take it a little bit personally, but you can’t let it get you down”.

Democratic strategists say Obama can help Clinton considerably.

WASHINGTON, July 28 (Xinhua) – U.S. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has been dogged by controversy in recent weeks, but this week’ s Democratic National Convention may give her the bounce she needs to come back.

“Do you really think Donald Trump has the temperament to be commander in chief?” she continued.

Asked what the protest would accomplish by one reporter, she said it would change “the way we approach things”.

Democrats have surrounded Mrs Clinton with numerous significant party figures at this week’s convention. “Bernie, your campaign inspired millions of Americans, particularly the young people who threw their hearts and souls into our primary”, she said, praising him for campaigning on economic and social justice issues.
