Democratic party boss Schultz to resign as e-mail scandal rocks party

However, Wasserman Schultz announced Sunday that she will resign as chair when the convention ends, as a result of leaked emails that appear to show top DNC aides strategizing against U.S. Sen.

Schultz is under fire after leaked emails showed DNC officials discussing ways to help Clinton defeat Sanders in the Democratic primaries.

Bernie Sanders says that Wasserman Schultz’s departure from the Democratic National Committee will “open the doors of the party to people who want real change”.

Her departure, long sought by Sanders, is aimed at drawing a line under the scandal as establishment Democrats seek desperately to unite the party behind the campaign of former secretary of state Clinton, who goes up against Republican Donald Trump in the November presidential election.

Nick Insua, 17, said Wasserman Schultz did the right thing stepping down as chair after the convention.

That’s a goal that may be a little harder to achieve now. For outgoing DNC Chair and Weston, Florida congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, not so much.

She is also expected to speak at some point during the convention.

“She has a total, comprehensive plan on small businesses-making sure they have access to capital, making sure we’re supporting small business growth”, Granholm said.

“Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned over her failure to secure the DNC’s email servers and the rigged system she set up with the Clinton campaign”, he said.

Although Brazile has contributed to presidential bids by Jesse Jackson, Walter Mondale and Dick Gephardt, she is noted as being the first African-American to run a presidential campaign, for then-Vice President Al Gore in 2000.

The controversy over Wasserman Schultz came as the party looks to project unity following last week’s often fractious Republican convention.

The embarrassment caused by leaked emails not only cost Wasserman Schultz her position as head of the DNC, it’s also providing fodder for her primary-election opponent. She said she backed Sanders because of his support for free college education and universal health care.

That was enough for Deborah Adams, of Cheraw, South Carolina, who served as a whip for the 14 Sanders delegates from her state’s delegation.

“Our party always has stood for that”, she said.
