Democrats Begin Convention with DNC Shake-up
Shortly after she resigned, Sanders said in a statement that Wasserman Schultz “has made the right decision for the future of the Democratic Party”.

“You don’t always get to win”, said Birong, 39. Bernie Sanders, who finished second in the Democratic primary. He stressed, however, the importance of Clinton continuing to embrace a progressive vision during the general election.
During the primaries, Sanders campaign had alleged that the party was not staying neutral. Kenny Madden, a Sanders delegate from Kentucky, said he doesn’t “think there can be anything Bernie can say that will bring people together”.
There were chants of “Hell No, DNC, we won’t vote for Hillary” and “This is what democracy looks like”. She will be the first woman nominated for president by a major USA political party. And some will arrive frustrated, knowing they would have preferred Sanders be the nominee.
“What’s disturbing to us is that experts are telling us that Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails and other experts are now saying that Russians are releasing these emails for the objective of helping Donald Trump”, Clinton campaign chairman Robby Mook said on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
Grossman also allowed that from what he had read in the email trove it appeared Sanders has a case that the scales were tipped in Clinton’s favor.
After a hard-fought primary campaign, the party had been heading to the convention seeming far more unified than the Republicans, whose fissures were laid bare last week as they confirmed Trump as their flagbearer. “There is a consensus among experts that it is indeed Russian Federation that is behind this hack of the DNC”, Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon told CNN Monday morning, arguing Russian Federation was trying to influence the outcome of the USA election. A cache of leaked emails from Democratic Party leaders’ accounts includes at least two messages suggesting an insider effort to wound the upstart Sanders campaign that had competed with Clinton – including by seeking to present him as an atheist in deeply religious states. Wasserman Schultz, who has been denounced for months by Sanders and his supporters, had clearly become an impediment to that goal.
“I’m not excited”, said Matthew Mousley, 36, of Springfield, who nevertheless plans to support Clinton. That makes the convention a critical opportunity for a party to introduce its candidates to the country. They’ll likely be disappointed – the Sanders campaign did not attempt a parliamentary maneuver that would allow further amendments. And like Trump, negative views of Clinton run deep, even among some supporters.
Allen, who most recently served as America’s special envoy to the coalition fighting the Islamic State group, said Monday that he generally keeps out of politics but “given the complexities of issues facing our country today and its longtime allies, I felt compelled to speak up and be heard”. This year, those superdelegates overwhelmingly backed Clinton. When he addresses the convention Tuesday night, the Clinton campaign team may well be thinking, “First, do no harm”. They don’t like her moderate vice presidential pick Tim Kaine. “It’s just more of the same”, she said.
Not everyone is ready to support Clinton, though, including Deborah Burger, co-president of National Nurses United, one of the most prominent organizations to back Sanders.
“Democratic party’s been colluding with Hillary and they’re just not being Democratic or fair”, said protester Dan Kleinman.
“We’re taking the lead from Sen”. Some were dismayed by her choice of Sen.
“She’s been in Washington for so long”, said Lisa Tarlecki, 56, of Berwyn, who said she was weighing whether to vote for Clinton – or not at all.

“I am definitely going to the DNC, and I’ll definitely be protesting outside of the DNC”, Dawson said.
