Sticking close to the Republican gubernatorial playbook, Rauner’s actions have been rejected previously, and will still remain so, even in the absence of a statement from Emanuel.

State Sen. Darin LaHood is seeking the seat vacated by former Congressman Aaron Schock in a September 10 special election.

Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) failed to win the endorsement Wednesday of Cook County Democratics for the Senate race against Republican incumbent Sen.

The day won’t be all cheerleading.

Senate Bill 318 passed the House on a 37 to 1 vote, with 18 members voting present, earlier this month. He says Democrats have “created a mess” during years of one-party rule.

The 81-year-old native of Alton said he’d surely be on the job for the remainder of this term, though.

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner [official website] on Wednesday signed into law the bill known as SB 1304 [materials] which includes the Law Enforcement Body Worn Camera Act, establishing sweeping regulations for police officers’ use of body cameras while on duty.

The effect on residents and businesses is clear: There’ll be a “dramatic” increase in what the state eventually will have to raise in taxes, cut in spending – or both, said Laurence Msall, president of The Civic Federation, a nonpartisan research organization.

But Rauner vetoed the proposal in July.

Illinois has been without a budget since the start of June, as Rauner and the legislature’s Democratic super majorities face off in what House Speaker Michael Madigan called an “epic struggle”. “If Gov. Rauner is serious about helping Chicago schools and providing relief to taxpayers across our state, he should help push the Senate president’s legislation across the finish line now”.

The fight has led to a stalemate over the state budget.

Gov. Bruce Rauner Gov. Rauner unveiled his bill on Monday.

“I believe this is the single most important piece of legislation we can pass this session”, Rauner said in a news conference at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago.

The administration says the state must focus on rebalancing the system and ensuring that individuals receiving state- supported services actually need the level of support they receive.

So much for any signs of real cooperation between the political parties. Democrats will hold their rally at the fair Thursday.
