Democrats grapple with Trump effect as primary draws near
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s communications director on Tuesday made it a point to stress that while the campaign chose not to respond to Republican front-runner Donald Trump’s use of a Yiddish vulgarity to deride Clinton during a Monday rally, the public should react to such comments.

For his part, Trump tweeted last night: “For those on TV defending my use of the word ‘schlonged, ‘ bc #MSM is giving it false meaning-tell them it means beaten badly”. Often used word in politics!
On Monday, while addressing a crowd in Michigan, Trump apparently resorted to a vulgar term to describe Clinton’s loss to Obama in the run for the Democratic candidature for the 2008 presidential elections. “… She was going to beat – she was favored to win – and she got schlonged”.
I demand an apology from Hillary Clinton for the disgusting story she made up about me for purposes of the debate.
The latest rift between Clinton and Trump began during Saturday evening’s debate. Bernie Sanders, gasping for airtime.
This isn’t the first time Mr Trump has used what could be interpreted as gendered language to criticise Mrs Clinton. In recent weeks, he has repeatedly commented on her pantsuits, said she lacks the “stamina” and “strength” needed for the presidency, and accused her of sleeping too much.
“I want him to talk every single day”, Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said of Trump.
NBC News’ foreign correspondent Richard Engel warned on Twitter and on air that Trump’s anti-Muslim statements could have troublesome effect on US relations overseas. She claimed the Islamic State group had used videos of his comments about Muslims to recruit militants.
“She’s a liar!” he repeated at the rally, labeling Mrs Clinton “not a president”.
Fifty percent of registered U.S. voters said in a Quinnipiac poll Tuesday that they would be “embarrassed” to have Trump as president, compared to 23 percent who would be proud.
Clinton responded during a Tuesday appearance in Iowa.
Standing before a crowd of 7,500, Trump recounted how Clinton was seconds late to the Democratic debate stage on Saturday night following a commercial break.
Avoiding sinking to the new low of insulting commentary by Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton took the high ground and struck back against the Donald for his caustic comments regarding her.

“We are watching the Donald melt down”, predicted Ellen Tauscher, the former congresswoman who served as undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security Affairs under Clinton.
