Secular progressive policies at home and overseas are not working.

The Ohio Republican Party had a separate and more subdued celebration going on, with Chairman Matt Borges announcing with a one-sentence statement that Trump had taken Ohio. He gets to keep his job as Senate Majority Leader.

They also held on to their majorities in chambers in several states that had been targeted by the Democrats, and apparently gained a tie in the previously Democratic-controlled Connecticut Senate.

It would be an irony if Mr Trump gets them to change their minds and ends up enacting more or less the kind of building project that Mr Obama always had in mind but couldn’t get through. It was a revolution. In Missouri, former Navy SEAL Eric Greitens (pictured) emerged from a five-person primary to become the Republican nominee.

They may also see political opportunity in some of the areas where Trump and the congressional GOP find easy agreement.

The State Board of Elections reported Wednesday a little more than 4.7 million ballots have been cast, or 68.2 percent of North Carolina’s 6.9 million registered voters.

It could be the new president will demand new leadership in Congress and both Ryan and McConnell will be replaced as House and Senate leaders.

The courts may be saved from secular progressives for years to come and the Constitution respected again.

Republicans appeared to hold onto many legislative bodies that Democrats went after hard, including the Senate in West Virginia and the House in MI. “It’s time for America to bind the wounds of division”, Trump said during his victory speech early Wednesday.

Now comes the hard part. They’ll paint Trump as not a Mr. Fix It, but just another politician, willing to sell out workers to help the powerful.

Senate President Mike Thibodeau is seeking a second term as president, the first Republican to do that since 1980. Pence’s years in Congress and his executive experience as governor of in make him the go-to guy for navigating the labyrinth that is Washington. Among those are Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which hadn’t backed a GOP presidential candidate since the 1980s, leaving both parties trying to discern how much Tuesday may have reordered the lineup of blue, red and swing states. Success will silence the critics, who won’t go quietly and accept defeat. But Trump’s ability to deliver on his extravagant campaign promises to change Washington and rebuild the nation will require passing laws, a tedious process not built for instant gratification.
