Democrats Press for Federal Investigation Into Trump Foundation Donation
The foundation is being investigated to make sure it’s complying with NY laws governing charities, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.

“So in 2013, Pam Bondi, the attorney general of Florida, she actually personally solicits a campaign contribution from Trump”, one reporter says.
Eric Scheiderman has launched a probe of the Donald J. Trump Foundation to ensure its compliance with state regulations governing charities.
“We’ve inquired into it and we’ve had correspondence with them”, Schneiderman said.
How refreshing it is, after weeks and months of faux Clinton Foundation “scandals”, after all the fatuous media talk about “optics” and “perceptions”, to finally have a real foundation scandal to chew on.
Citing the concern of several editorial boards – including the Tampa Bay Times, the Sun Sentinel, and the Washington Post – that have called for the feds to investigate the Trump-Bondi connection, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. Ted Deutch and Lois Frankel called Tuesday for someone to investigate the Donald Trump-Pam Bondi matter that Deutch said “looked like a bribe”.
CNN said, “Trump is now facing three separate lawsuits – two class action suits filed in California and one in NY by [state Attorney Gen. Eric] Schneiderman – which argue the program that took in an estimated $40 million, but was mired in fraud and deception”.
The GOP nominee’s business said it was unaware of the mistake, adding that upon notification Trump filed paperwork informing the IRS of the gift and paid excise tax on it. Likewise Trump said the donation didn’t play a factor.
“My office has made public every document on this issue, which shows no one in my office ever opened an investigation on Trump University nor was there a basis for doing so”, Bondi wrote in a June statement.
Trump has denied any connection between the money and the attorney general, who later decided not to pursue an investigation.
Now, a new Washington Post report reveals new details about how the real-estate billionaire has used his tax-exempt, private foundation to benefit himself in unusual ways-including branding others’ charitable donations as his own.
The Trump campaign has not made any public statements about the NY investigation. “She’s a fine person be-yond reproach”, Trump said.
Deutch referred to reporting by Orlando Sentinel columnist Scott Maxwell in which Bondi acknowledged in 2013 that the office was reviewing complaints from people who thought they were defrauded by Trump University.

Unlike the Republican-led witch hunts into Hillary Clinton, the Democrats are echoing the thoughts of non-partisans and concerned citizens about facts already in evidence.
