Dengue death of Odia boy: Magistrate-level probe ordered

Doctors there told us that our son does not have dengue though we carried the report of a private hospital where he had been tested positive for dengue. Total 1300 dengue instances have been reported this season and at the very least 4 individuals have died because of the mosquito borne illness.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “It is completely unacceptable that some hospitals didn’t accept a patient and he died“. The World Health Organization estimates 96 million seek treatment for the disease and 500,000 require hospitalization each year for severe dengue fever.

The Delhi government has also made the three-Parliamentary Secretaries for Health as the Nodal point for coordination to handle dengue related issues with its MLAs.

The Minister also suggested that hospitals may postpone surgeries if possible to free beds for dengue patients. “Both the hospitals will be issued a show cause notice in this matter, ” Jain said, while talking to mediapersons.”We will get the details in this regard and those responsible would be strictly punished, ” he said. Over 150 cases have been reported in areas under the East corporation.

Three casualties including a 10-year-girl, who died in the first week of August, have been designated by the municipal as suspected dengue death cases.

Yesterday, Delhi government had launched a round-the clock helpline- 011-23307145- to help dengue patients.

The dengue death toll in the city has risen to ten, however, the death toll as per the municipal corporation’s official data still stands at 5.
