“I had an understanding that being the member of Scheduled Caste (SC) and senior IAS officer cadre, I would be given a chance to work as Chief Secretary, I feel victimised, hence I submitted three months notice of VRS to the state government”, the Additional Chief Secretary rank IAS officer of 1978 batch who was set to retire on June 30, 2016, said.
Umrao Salodia, is now chairman of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation, a state government undertaking that employs over 20,000 employees, but is running into losses.
Rajan was scheduled to retire on Thursday. However, parliamentary affairs and health minister Rajendra Rathore refuted Salodia’s allegations, saying that the latter had held several important positions and his allegations were baseless, aimed at cheap publicity. Addressing the media, on Thursday, Mr Rathore said that Mr Salodia had acted in violation of the law as he spoke against the government. “Had the government discriminated on the basis of caste, the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker [Kailash Meghwal] would not be from the SC/ST community”.
The IAS officer has also written to the CM describing the government’s decision to deny him the chief secretaryship as unprecedented while asking her to accept his VRS application. “There might be some personal reasons but we do not know why he is doing these things six months before retirement”, he said.
However, it is learnt that Mr Salodia was never a favourite for the highest office of the state bureaucracy because of an ongoing anti corruption bureau case against him. Now, I feel victimised. Meanwhile, state Congress president Sachin Pilot alleged that the IAS officer’s allegations reflected poor state of governance prevailing in the state at present.

“Being a Hindu and SC member, I was always victimised, hence I converted my religion to Islam by reading “Kalma” (Shahadah) in a Masjid”, he said.
