Dennis Rodman was driving wrong way on freeway before hit-and-run

Former basketball player Dennis Rodman says a claim he was involved in a hit-and-run on a California freeway is hearsay.

Rodman was being investigated for hit-and-run after witnesses told the California Highway Patrol they believed the National Basketball Association great was driving a white SUV that crashed on the 5 Freeway around 12:30 AM. According to the Associated Press, the California Highway Patrol recommended to the Orange County Prosecutor that Rodman faces charges.

The CHP recommended a felony charge be filed because the passenger complained of pain following the crash, Olivera said.

Rodman, who was in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at an event Friday where he was giving out copies of his children’s books, says nothing happened, there was no wreck and there were no injuries.

District attorney’s spokeswoman Roxy Fyad wrote in an email to the AP said ‘We are now reviewing the matter. The driver of a black BMW traveling south was forced to swerve to avoid a head-on collision and struck the freeway’s concrete center divider.

The BMW driver told troopers that after a brief conversation, the controversial 55-year-old basketball player left without exchanging information, got back into his SUV and headed southbound.
