Also, one of the two motorbike-borne persons, with whom Narang had an argument initially, was a Hindu.

Apart from the four juveniles, including one of the prime accused, and Naseer, the adults arrested in connection with the incident have been identified as Deepak and two youths who are both named Amir, police added.

The police said after the Indian cricket team won the World T20 match against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Narang’s seven-year-old son Aadit took him to the parking area of their house to play cricket along with nephew Rachit. After that, leaving the bike over there, the duo left the spot. They, however, returned with at least 10 other people in a few minutes and the group allegedly attacked the doctor with bats, sticks and rods and dragged him to some distance from his house.

Dr Pankaj Narang lived with his wife and son in the Vikaspuri area. The residents who came to help the dentist were also thrashed. But by the time the police arrived on the scene, it was already too late.

Police said a relative of the doctor, who was also badly attacked, was being treated in a private hospital and his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has demanded police security cover for the family members of Dr Pankaj Narang who was beaten to death by hooligans outside his home in West Delhi. A case of murder, attempt to murder, trespassing and rioting has been registered, police said. Briefing reporters Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpender Kumar said, all the accused were arrested on basis of the evidence available. When they were playing, the cricket ball rolled out on to the road and Narang’s eight-year-old son had gone to collect it.
