After initial investigations, police found that Narang’s son was playing cricket with him on Wednesday night, after India won the T20 World Cup cricket match against Bangladesh.
The source said, while playing cricket, the ball allegedly hit two men who were passing by their house on a motorcycle.
A juvenile is one among the two persons, who are prime accused and the other one has been identified as Naseer. This led to a scuffle between the doctor and the men.
The incident happened around midnight when the victim, Pankaj Narang, first entered an argument with two bikers who soon returned, joined by a dozen others, to attack the dentist.
They allegedly severely thrashed the doctor’s brother-in-law too when he came to save Narang, the police said.
As per the police, the accused live in a slum just behind the dentist’s home and did casual jobs at a local market. The men abandoned the bike on the spot and fled, only to return to the spot later, with 13 others. They allegedly assaulted everyone whoever tried to save him. Narang, who suffered severe injuries to his head, died on the way to the hospital.
