Denver brings dominant defense into Super Bowl 50

Carolina quarterback Cam Newton dominat3ed this season, putting up MVP-type numbers.

I just can’t envision a scenario in which Denver keeps this close. Can he continue his tour de force against this exceptional unit?

“He actually took a shot on the arm yesterday and said ‘Hey, I’m fine. I think the team rallies around him and maybe he can teach Carolina a lesson or two”.

The Broncos’ defense might not have a weakness.

Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware and the rest of that defense will need to have another game just like they had last time out against New England. Panthers are just too talented on both sides of the ball. Can they create turnovers like they have done all year? They have speed, they have strength, they can bull rush, they have quick, inside moves. Carolina has played three games against teams in the top five in yards-per-play and won all three, none by more than a TD.

And don’t sleep on their inside rushers, Wolfe and Malik Jackson.

“It gets pretty insane especially with food”, said Jabari Scott of The Bar.

“It wasn’t easy-not one day”, Thomas said. Part of me looks at this matchup and says that if these two teams play the same games that they did in the Conference Championship round, then Carolina should win this game by about three touchdowns.

They had the No. 1 overall defense during the regular season and managed to make Tom Brady look ordinary in the AFC championship game. Newton’s running gives the Panthers a diverse offense hard to defend.

In fact, according to the statistical analysis group, FiveThirtyEight, only Vince Ferragamo of the Los Angeles Rams in 1979 had a worse statistical year among Super Bowl quarterbacks than Manning had this season. It is a no holds barred. “We don’t do a lot of things, but he’s very aggressive”.

So where does Holt think the key areas lie in Sunday’s clash?

But Rivera is desperate to spoil the party and has backed his own quarterback star Cam Newton to make sure Manning, 39, finishes as a loser. If he can get something going against the Broncos’ run defense, it would soften things up considerably for Newton and company.

He does all his work from the pocket.

As Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Friday, the “hay’s in the barn”.

“You get emotionally involved”, Polian added. Manning won’t confirm that Sunday will be his last game.

“Now he’s healthy and you can see a difference”, Thomas said.

“… But you have to be able to throw the ball if you want to play quarterback in this league”. He’s been the primary guy assigned on defense to cover the opposing tight end because he has enough speed to stick with them in coverage but also the size and physicality to match as well. When the lines first came out, Carolina was originally a 3.5 point favorite so the money has been coming in and supporting the Panthers even more.
