Denver Broncos’ Aqib Talib handed one-game suspension for eye poke

Peyton Manning has compensated for sometimes-mediocre defenses with elite quarterbacking for much of his career.

Talib took a penalty on the play and that basically ended the game for the Broncos, as it allowed the Colts to run out the clock for a 27-24 victory.

The 39-year-old quarterback has been one of the league’s most durable players over the past 18 seasons, and missing time would be uncharacteristic.

Usually, those numbers are a prescription for disaster.

Maclin and Conley have three of the Chiefs’ five touchdowns by wide receivers in recent weeks as their streak of 21 games without a touchdown by a wide receiver ended in Week 3. Throughout the preseason, Osweiler demonstrated a solid understanding of the team’s offense. “It looks like the interceptions haven’t interfered with their game”.

“I’m very concerned, ” coach Gary Kubiak said. “We can improve dramatically there”.

Yet Manning was left an agonising three yards short of surpassing Favre’s benchmark after throwing for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

But it also had a potentially positive effect: it showed the Broncos what playing beyond the limits can cost them – and it showed them the potentially lethal nature of self-inflicted wounds. If the defense can generate pressure, it could return to its form of the first seven games.

“You can get hot not turning the ball over and go a long period of time, too”, Kubiak said. “Statistically, we have the No. 1 defense in football, but we’re also the most penalized”.

But he has still proven that he can get things done when crunch time rolls around. We’ve got something that needs to get corrected. Hilton dropped his head, but Ward’s shoulder led into Hilton’s chest. “But, hey, that’s not my job”.

“I didn’t feel any pain I felt fast, I felt a little bit fresher, because I have been down for four weeks, I’m excited to see what I do when I get down on the field”, Ray said. Instead, after holding a 14-point lead in the first half and never trailing in the game, the Chiefs found a way to lose their seventh game in a row to the Broncos in heartbreaking fashion. He is considered “day-to-day”.

-Outside linebacker Shane Ray could begin practicing in the next week or two as he continues his recovery from the sprained MCL he suffered against the Browns.

Talib went to break up a skirmish between teammate Von Miller and Colts tight end Dwayne Allen, when Talib poked Allen in the right eye late in the fourth quarter.

Talib said that he plans to appeal the suspension. Expect KC to mostly avoid starting CB Chris Harris Jr. and try to pick on Roby or even reserve Kayvon Webster who will take on the nickel role. Trevathan is second on the team in tackles this season behind Brandon Marshall. Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant were the top rookies, while Texas slugger Prince Fielder and NY Mets pitcher Matt Harvey were the top comeback players.
