Denver Broncos complete dramatic late comeback win over Kansas City

The curse of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos lives on in Kansas City. “We’re going to need him”, Smith said.

“It was”, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall said, “a revelation”. I tried to put the team on my back and I ended up losing the game.

Peyton Manning changed the narrative on his 2015 season rather quickly Thursday night.

Then came the second fumble, one that essentially cost the Chiefs the game.

Marshall said that he thought the Chiefs would be passing the ball but, as Chiefs fans know, they made a decision to run it with Jamaal on that fateful drive.

Charles leads the league in usage rate and ranks among the top fantasy options in the NFL, but his fumbling problem is a source of frustration in Kansas City.

“I saw earlier in the game when I tackled (Jamaal) Charles that he was carrying the ball loose”. Biggest play of my life. “It’s all about winning and we didn’t win”, he said, “so I guess I needed more sacks”.

Von Miller said: “Roby is a superstar”.

But when the game was in the balance, Manning looked like the vintage All-Pro. This was the weirdest. He then completed 18 of 27 passes for 165 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The ball was recovered by Denver Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby and returned for a touchdown.

Even if they didn’t, the ensuing field goal would have been a difference-maker. Whew and Wow!

As the time on the clock waned in the first half, the Broncos offense would finally click. The Pits and the Pendulum.

Two minutes? Plenty of time for vintage Manning, who methodically moved the Broncos 80 yards in 1:47 to score the game-tying touchdown. The teams deserved to be tied, literally, at halftime. The offense continued to struggle, looking out of sync.

Packers: Right tackle Bryan Bulaga left practice after injuring his left knee, and his status for this weekend’s game against Seattle was unclear. The Chiefs went ahead 14-0 and the game appeared to be in hand. He was picked off twice, including one for a touchdown. Fortunately for the Broncos, the defense was not.

Of course, it wasn’t so much that the Chiefs lost. He wasn’t Old Man Manning. His best success came on shorter throws over the middle, something that defenses can work to take away in the coming weeks so that Manning has to beat them on the longer throws he’s shown less of an ability to make through two weeks. But the Broncos went three and out and sent in Britton Colquitt to punt.
