Denver Broncos’ Marshall kneels in protest during national anthem
Marshall joins Colin Kaepernick, Jeremy Lane, and Eric Reid as National Football League players refusing to stand for the anthem this young season.

The post has received thousands of likes and shares and hundreds of supportive comments on Facebook. Kaepernick met with a Green Beret (and took a knee, rather than sat, during the final preseason game as a result of that conversation), has pledged to donate $1 million to charities that aid communities in need, and sparked a national conversation over issues now facing the country.
Apparently, O’Neal doesn’t realize that Kaepernick’s protest has nothing to do with, nor is a slight toward, those in the military, and that Kaepernick also has family who are in law enforcement. Kaepernick refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem prior to a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 29.
Watson, the Baltimore Ravens tight end who is now recovering, from a torn achilles, first noted that as soon as he is able, he will be standing for national anthem – even though America is still plagued by issues like racism, abortion, police brutality, and pollution. This country allowed him to become a very wealthy celebrity that was able to pursue his dream.
And in a move that will at least partially silence some of his critics, Kaepernick is planning to donate the proceeds he makes from these jersey sales.
The 49ers play the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, Sept. 12, but Kaepernick said he would had had no qualms kneeling during the national anthem had San Francisco been scheduled to play Sunday, the 15-year anniversary of 9/11.
Watch the WKTV video report below.
At the very least, he now knows he has a pretty strong supporter in his corner.
“I’m not anti-American. I love America”, said Kaepernick after his team’s most recent preseason game. I have to help these people.
“We made a decision to play the anthem in our stadium ahead of schedule rather than subject our fans and friends to the disrespect we feel such an act would represent”.
They risk all and they are already underpaid and put in the line of danger every day for us.

“I haven’t heard of anybody refusing to work because of Kaepernick”, Santa Clara (Calif.) police spokesman Lt. Dan Moreno told USA TODAY Sports in a phone interview on Wednesday. “Certainly that individual is free to have his views and he is bringing awareness to some important issues, but what I strongly disagree with is the method at that time when there are so many who have sacrificed so much that ought to be respected and honored during that time”.
