Denver hospital on lockdown after gun sighting

A man visiting his wife and newborn son was just about to leave Rose Medical Center Friday afternoon when an announcement came over the Rose Medical Center public address system “to take shelter”.

Police later lifted orders for people to shelter in place at buildings near the hospital complex but urged those inside Rose Medical Center to stay in place while officers continued to investigate. No injuries have been reported.

Denver police have received multiple reports surrounding the incident. Police could not confirm that there was a shooting, but did say they have units at the scene. Campbell says police are looking for a man seen with a gun, described as.

Officers are continuing their search of the area, and they are searching the hospital room-by-room.

Rose Medical Center spokeswoman Julie Hogan said Friday no one at the hospital was hurt.

However, police tweeted there was no confirmation of shots fired.

Police officers carrying long guns surrounded the facility east of downtown after the sighting, and several roads near the building were closed and blocked by patrol cars.

An adjacent Veterans Administration hospital also was locked down as a protective measure.
