Rose Medical Center in Denver is ordering its staff and patients to shelter in place on Friday afternoon following reports of an active shooter.

Police locked down a Denver hospital complex Friday amid reports that gunshots were fired and a man was seen carrying a rifle on the grounds. There has been no confirmation of shots fired and the investigation is ongoing.

Officers are continuing their search of the area, and they are searching the hospital room-by-room. Police could not confirm that there was a shooting, but did say they have units at the scene. He is about 130 pounds, and was last seen wearing a flannel shirt and hat, police said.

Photos showed officers on the roof of the building and a massive police response.

Dan Warvi, a spokesman for the Veterans Affairs Eastern Colorado Healthcare system including the VA Hospital next to Rose Medical Center, said their building is also on lockdown.
