A San Diego-bound United Airlines aircraft was diverted to Denver International Airport Wednesday night after a passenger reported a possibly suspicious device on the Boeing 737, the FBI’s Denver field office said.

Passengers were told to use the east side passenger drop-off area until the west side Level 6 area was reopened.
Both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines’ ticket desks are in the area which has been closed off.
Police and the FBI are investigating.
Police tweeted an update on the situation early in the investigation.
Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery said some passengers were disrupted while part of the airport was sealed off, but alternate arrangements were made to help passengers make their flights.
A description of the device found was not available.
The bomb squad has been called in to examine the item.

After the plane landed safely – and was met by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Denver Police Department – the item was deemed not a threat, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.
