Department of Justice could be wrapping up its investigation of Clinton’s emails

Is anyone else wondering why Hillary Clinton has not already been “interviewed” by the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding her use of a private computer?

“The conclusions of the reports were that there was no way military assets could have made it in time”, Becerra said Sunday. “They did not discuss the Department of Justice’s review”.

“They said hello, they talked about grandkids”, Clinton said, calling the chat “purely social”.

The interview was expected and does not mean prosecutions will follow.

However, it’s unlikely to wipe away many voters’ concerns about Clinton’s trustworthiness.

Her spokesman added that she is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion.

The former President has been a far more disciplined and scripted campaigner for his wife this cycle than he was in 2008.

The meeting raised questions about its propriety given the investigation, and congressional Republicans have renewed calls for the appointment of a special prosecutor in the case. She echoed what both President Clinton and Lynch have said about the meeting – that it was a chance encounter and was a simple “exchange of pleasantries”. “She’s going to try to show the American people that she’s going to work hard, especially for working families in America, to earn their trust”.

The probe is an unwelcome distraction for Clinton, who had just vanquished rival Bernie Sanders. The issue has haunted her presidential campaign.

A Washington Post analysis of Clinton’s publicly released correspondence found that Clinton wrote 104 emails that she sent using her private server while secretary of state that the government has since said contained classified information. The Associated Press revealed the existence of the server in March 2015.

Her use of private email for official correspondence first came to light in 2015 during Republican-led congressional investigations into her handling of a militant attack on the United States mission in Benghazi, Libya.

The FBI regularly interviews key figures before concluding an investigation, and such meetings are not an indication that it thinks the person broke the law. Graham says Clinton’s no-fly zone in Syria is a “great step in the right direction”.

“I’ve been answering questions for over a year” regarding the private email server, Mrs Clinton said.

Clinton herself acknowledges that she has “work to do” to earn the trust of voters after almost four decades in public life as she faces Republican Donald Trump in the general election.

Some of the emails that had not been considered classified during Clinton’s tenure were labeled as such after the fact.

None of the emails on Clinton’s private server were marked as classified at the time they were sent or received, but the Central Intelligence Agency later determined that some contained material that would be considered “top secret”.
