Deplorable? Trump more so than Clinton, poll finds
Republican Donald Trump has opened up a lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released Thursday.

The tightening in the money race echoes Tuesday’s Siena Poll of likely NY registered voters showing Clinton and Trump, both New Yorkers, tied in the suburbs while Clinton led statewide with a bare majority of 51 percent.
A Quinnipiac University poll has Clinton ahead with 45 percent, Trump at 39 percent, Johnson at eight percent, and Stein with one percent.
“Leads for Donald Trump in Georgia and Iowa and a virtual tie in Colorado plus a 6-point lead for Clinton in Virginia represent a major improvement overall for him in these states”, Peter Brown, the director of the poll, said in a statement.
So what can we expect to see at Monday’s 90-minute face-off at Hofstra University in NY? “Indeed, the average poll has moved 2.8 percentage points toward Trump”.
Clinton, on the other hand, has taken the more traditional approach, clearing several days from traveling the country to instead huddle with a team of close advisers to hone responses to likely questions and strategize about potential lines of attack by Trump. It has a margin of error of 3.8 percent.
Black voters and minorities heavily support Hillary Clinton, with 69 percent swinging in her favor. He was slow to disavow former KKK leader David Duke earlier in the year and has repeatedly promoted tweets by white supremacists during his White House bid.
American voters aren’t happy with the economic status quo, the poll shows.
As of this writing, Trump will only need to secure one state to make it to the Electoral College victory.
Half of the registered voters backing Clinton said their vote was more for Clinton, while 44 per cent characterised it as more against Trump, Politico reported. The percentage of those surveyed who say they have a very favorable opinion of the media has remained in the single digits since 1995. “When Quinnipiac University polled last in those states on August 17, Secretary Hillary Clinton was riding the post-convention wave that gave her double-digit leads in many polls”, Brown said.
The Suffolk University Poll, which interviewed 500 likely voters September 19-21, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 points.
Last month, the same poll showed Clinton 4 points ahead of Trump in a four-way race.
In that state, too, voters had negative views of both candidates, but Clinton’s standing was just a bit better – 36 percent favorable compared with 30 percent favorable for Trump.

“They ask Hillary Clinton a set of much harder questions”, she said.
