Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have reached a divorce settlement under which she dropped a claim that he assaulted her.

“Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future”, the statement said.

Sources told Daily Mail the financial settlement was actually “close to US$10 million”, and was finalised over the weekend, but the pair feuded over the wording of the statement.

They couple said in a joint statement: “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love”.

“Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain”. “I endured excessive emotional, verbal, and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating, and threatening assaults to me whenever I questions his authority or disagreed with him”, Heard alleged in court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight in May.

On Tuesday, Heard said she would donate proceeds from the divorce to an undisclosed charity.

She submitted photographs appearing to show her bruised face, which she said was a result of Depp throwing a mobile phone at her.

Heard was first granted a temporary restraining order in May after claiming that Depp had verbally and physically abused her throughout their relationship.

His attorney stated on his behalf at the time that “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse”.

According to TMZ, the offer of $8million was on the table, so Heard ended up with less than she’d hoped.

As part of the settlement the model agreed to dismiss her domestic violence restraining order petition against the Pirates of the Caribbean star with prejudice, meaning she can never re-file it.

The couple began dating in 2012 after meeting on the set of The Rum Diary, and were married in February 2015.
