The quote of the night, for the undercard GOP debate held on FOX Business Tuesday, has to go to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who likened New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to a youth soccer player while attacking his record.
“Here’s a dirty little secret”, he said, adding, “There’s only one of us who actually cut government spending”.
During the evening, Jindal and Christie were joined by former Pennsylvania Sen.
In past debates, we’ve seen both that personal questions can prompt Google interest and that the most-searched candidates often get a poll boost afterward.
“I really wasn’t surprised”, DuHaime explained. He said since this is a debate, maybe the Republicans should debate about their respective visions for the future. The latest RealClearPolitics polling averages put him at 2.2 percent.
It’s been an interesting week or so for Chris Christie.
GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio is getting debate night help from a new political group called “Baby Got PAC”.
The main debate featuring the top eight candidates begins at 9 p.m. ET.
Mr Christie came into the debate with a few forceful attacks on Hillary Clinton up his sleeve, but he saved his fiercest rhetoric for the Chinese government.
“I think we ought to look where income inequality seems to be the worst”, said Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.
“We need a conservative, not a big government Republican”, the Louisianan groused. I feel like he was strong. “Nothing changes, when they go to relieve themselves, their calls and the toilets get flushed at the same time and the American people lose”.
“If we send another big government Republican to the White House, we will not do enough to fix what is wrong in this country”, Jindal said, ticking off various comparisons between Louisiana and New Jersey and highlighting the credit downgrades the latter has experienced. “That’s how I’m going to focus my conversation going forward”.
Also largely overlooked by the pundits were Christie pointing the finger of blame for the state’s pension crisis on Obamacare – a ridiculous assertion – and his saber rattling over China. Christie, in a four-person debate, mighthave been at the disadvantage of probably being the best-known.

And Mr. Christie’s message was not always consistent. Jindal and Santorum have been the lowest performers throughout the past four debates. “I feel very good. It was clearly head and shoulders above the other people on that stage, so I feel great about the performance”.
